YOUR QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Simply bring yourself and a bottle of water. We provide all the equipment and mats.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing you can move easily in.

Our suggestion would be leggings or shorts for the bottom half, for men cycle shorts underneath regular shorts work well, and a not too baggy top that allows you to move.

Please ensure there are no zips on your clothing as this can damage the leather coverings on the apparatus.

Bare feet or socks are fine for in the studio. Note you do NOT need to have ‘grip’ socks, this is a common misconception.

  • They are a part of the same system, neither one being ‘better’ than the other. However they have some unique differences.

The main difference being that Matwork is simply you and a mat whereas Reformer uses the studio apparatus.

Matwork classes are delivered on the mat where you will learn each of the 34 Classical Matwork exercises which work in order to create flow, strength and stamina.

Reformer is practiced on the apparatus, which use springs for resistance. These classes work the order of exercises (called the repertoire) on the Reformers predominantly, however you will be guided around the studio to utilise other pieces of apparatus that will help to build your understanding of the method and your body.

  • Absolutely!

Pilates has been proven to help with common back ache and to help rehabilitate after injury. With low impact exercises and focus on posture, alignment and ‘how’ you move you will gain strength that helps to realign your body not just whilst in class but in your every day too
