Get to know your studio teachers - Chiara Mariotti

Get to know your teachers at Victoria Rose Pilates Studio…

Chiara Mariotti, a talented full comprehensive classical teacher, sat down with me to chat all things Pilates and more, have a read to get to know her better!

Welcome Chiara! So tell me about your Pilates journey

I started as a client initially because I was really fascinated by the Pilates method. I was always a bit of a gym bunny, but I was looking to do something that was more low impact, and I was really curious about Pilates.

I started practising about four years ago, beginning with mat Pilates before trying the equipment — and then there was no going back! I just really enjoyed it.

What made you want to teach Pilates and not just practice it?

There were a few different factors. Obviously, I was really fascinated by the Pilates method, which made me curious to learn more and go deeper into it.

But I was also going through a phase in my life where I felt I needed to do something more fulfilling — to find a bigger purpose in my working life.

I was always so inspired by my own teachers. I remember thinking, “Oh, I wish I could be like them.” That’s where the first conversations started, and I was met with nothing but support, so I decided to take that path.

It was a combination of loving the method and wanting to learn more, but also loving everything around it — the community, the people coming together for classes, and the happiness people feel when they leave a class.

As a teacher, you’re partly responsible for creating that feeling and helping people achieve something. I was really inspired by my own teachers and wanted to be part of that.

Tell us about your training.

I started my training in October 2024 at Pi Studios in London, completing a full comprehensive training.

I qualified with my 600 hours in April 2026, so it was an amazing experience.

Pilates has really helped me through life and given me a sense of purpose.

What can people expect from your classes and private sessions?

I definitely want to be there for people throughout their journey — to help, support and motivate them.

For me, it’s a really proud moment when you see the progress each client is making. You see them at the beginning and then watch that progress develop. Obviously, they feel better, but I feel happy too, seeing what they’ve achieved.

I’ll always try to be supportive and to recognise that every day is different. Some days your body might feel a certain way and you might not be able to do something you normally can. That doesn’t mean it’s a complete no — it might just mean “not today.”

Every day is different, so I think it’s important to take it as it comes.

At the same time, I like to encourage people to keep striving for a little bit more. You can always keep levelling up!

If you could describe your teaching style in a matter of 1-3 words, what would they be?

I try not to take myself too seriously!

I like to keep things light and have a bit of a joke during class, while still being focused and supportive.

So I’d say: fun, focused and supportive.

When you are not doing Pilates what can you be found doing?

When I’m not practising Pilates, I love spending time with my cats. I have two — Juno and Thor — my little fluffy bowls of happiness!

I also love travelling. Obviously, being Italian, I love going to different places, experiencing different cultures and meeting new people.

I enjoy being outdoors too. Even just going for walks — anything around water is particularly calming for me.

Are you a water sign?

I am a water sign! I’m a Scorpio, so maybe that explains why water makes me feel happy.

I also love spending time with friends, whether that’s going out for a glass of wine and a chat, going to the cinema or trying a new activity. I’m always up for trying something different.

Finally, do you have a little piece of wisdom to leave us with?

“It’s never too late to reinvent yourself.”

And we couldn’t agree more!

You can find Chiara at the studio on Friday’s from September, teaching both group classes and private tuition.

She’ll also be leading a 6 week Intro to Pilates course beginning 4th September, so if you’d like to discover her teaching style and join her for the course, check out the details here.

The mind, when housed within a healthful body, possesses a glorious sense of power.
